Emerging ACE Committee
Emerging ACE was launched early in 2009 with the clear objective of encouraging younger people from the newspaper, magazine and distribution industry to become more closely involved with ACE and to participate in its events.
Geared particularly to people either new to or establishing a career within the industry, Emerging ACE is largely built around opportunities to network and socialise – both formally and informally – and therefore to foster the three founding aims of ACE; fellowship, friendship and the free and open exchange of ideas.
The intention is to run social events throughout the year at which members have the opportunity to meet and interact with like minded individuals and forge valuable industry networks – following in the long established traditions of the newspaper and magazine industries.
Sitting on the current Emerging ACE committee are:
Suzanne Pullum - Marketforce
Luke Simons - Smiths News
Clare Planner - Gold key Media
Natalie Yorke - Bauer Media
Kirk Lawrence - Advantage
Jayne Hawley - The Network
Ben Mackness - News International
Steve Easton

Let’s just clear one thing up. I’m actually English despite my thick Glaswegian accent, although I was born in Berwick–upon-Tweed; a town that can barely decide on which side of the border it sits. I can hardly believe that I have worked in this industry for over 22 years now, starting my career sweeping the floor in the returns department at John Menzies, Partick, in Glasgow. I worked my way up via the trainee management scheme and held positions as both a newspaper and magazine manager in locations across Central Scotland. I moved into the Edinburgh Head Office where I worked as a Senior Account Manager looking after, amongst others, the COMAG account. This position saw me regularly visit West Drayton and I eventually moved south with my wife Ally and boys Jack and Tom when I joined the COMAG team 12 years ago. Outside work I enjoy my annual boy’s weekend camping at the British Grand Prix. I also have an eclectic taste in music, enjoy photography and have recently taken on an allotment, which not only keeps me fit but also complements my love of food!
