Sisyphus “Sid” Blogs From The First CDP+ Session

“Put Down Your Bolder Sid” came the voice from on high.

“Go forth and multiple your knowledge”.

So I did and joined the 22 delegates this month at the start of .the new CDP Plus programme.

First stop was to park the bolder at the Blu Finn Building, home to Marketforce, with a team of receptionists I would have expected to see at Heavens welcome desk.

We were warmly welcomed by a Santa lookalike called Chris Collins – guess he’s very busy over the December period.
Now down to business.  Up pops Jim Bilton of Wessenden Marketing who set s the scene for sites visits, overnight stops and the dreaded word “homework”.  I look around and see a splendid mix of faces from the world of magazines, newspapers, wholesalers and websites. With this amount of talent surely I can finally get my bloody bolder to the top of the 25:1 gradient I face every day of my life.

So what did I learn from this first session?  Well I know a vast amount more than when I started –  who earns what in commission terms  – what consumers spend their time and money on  – how consumers  buying print products – what the trend in digit products sales  and what the share of sales is amongst retailers including  those new temples of worship the supermarkets.

If you are a fellow delegate let me know what you think of the course so far?

Or maybe you are an ACE member who might be able to pass on some pearls of wisdom to the new CDP class of 2010?
